Agatha from Austin,Texas

I met Agatha in Oak Park tonight. I noticed her hair at first then she pulled out a camera and took a picture of some multicolored lights. This made it easier for me to approach her.

She was walking behind what appeared to be her sister and her mother ( an elderly woman ).

As I took her photo she said "Austin, Texas" without me asking where she was from. That threw me off. I tried to make some small talk and asked her if how she liked Ohio so far. She corrected me since we were in Oak Park, IL at the moment. Guess I was nervous.

I'll be honest, this challenge has been harder for me than I expected. I feel odd approaching people sometimes - and sometimes it's really easy.

I expect people to have the reaction I would have - like - "who the f are you?" I don't blame people for being suspicious about a stranger asking them for a photo.

So that trepidation has caused me to keep my mouth shut when many prospects pass by.

This photo is number #41 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at 100 Strangers
