When the Saints Come Marching In

This is Jacques. He was playing "When the Saints Come Marching In" in front of the Adam's side Entrance at Union Station. The music reminded me of a great friend of mine in California so I stopped to listen.

I tipped him and mentioned that it must be hard working in this type of weather ( temperatures were dropping and it was starting to snow ). He said yeah but he had to do it. Normally he would make more money during the holiday season. Most of the commuters are in a rush to get home and don't stop to enjoy some tunes.

When we talked about the tune he was playing he mentioned that he was trying to save enough money to catch a Greyhound to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. I guess its a great place to make some money if you have musical talent.

Years ago when I would take the train back and forth I would enjoy street performers while waiting. Now that I have a car I don't spend the time. This project gave me that opportunity. I have probably passed Jacques up a hundred times before stopping to chat today. He was a nice man.
